Rust is an intense multiplayer survival game where players wake up stranded in an unforgiving wilderness. Armed initially with only a rock and torch, you must harvest timber, stone, metal ore, and sulfur to fabricate essential gear, construct secure shelters, and defend against aggressive rivals.

Wildlife and exposure pose constant risks, but other human players remain the primary danger. Rival survivors frequently attack on sight to plunder raw inventory, making every supply run a high-stakes calculation between banking gathered materials or pushing further into contested territory.

How to Play Rust

Gather basic resources immediately to craft primitive tools, campfires, and basic wooden walls. Progressing into mid-game involves deploying furnaces to smelt crude metal and building workbenches to unlock blueprints for firearms, armor, and reinforced stone or metal structures.

Secure base architecture is crucial. Design airlocks, reinforced doors, and concealed tool cupboards to deter offline and online raiding parties. Ammunition remains scarce, and gunfire alerts nearby scavengers, so evaluate target risk and escape routes before engaging in combat.

Death results in dropping your active inventory. Regularly store surplus resources inside secured compartments to maintain base stability across hostile encounters.
