The Bidding Phase

Playing Tricks

The player to the dealer’s left leads the first trick (any card except a spade). Each player must follow suit if able; otherwise they may play any card. The trick winner leads the next one. Play continues until all 13 tricks are taken.

Scoring

If a team meets its combined bid, they score 10 points per trick bid. Extra tricks (overtricks or ” bags”) earn 1 point each, but collecting 10 bags triggers a -100 penalty. Failing the bid costs -10 per trick bid. A successful Nil bid adds +100 points; a failed Nil costs -100. The first team to 500 points wins.
