Waffle is a daily and unlimited word puzzle where your goal is to form six correct five-letter words — three horizontal and three vertical — using a limited number of swaps. Players can choose between daily mode (a new puzzle drops every 24 hours) and unlimited mode, where you can keep solving Waffle puzzles as long as you want. If you prefer something smaller or something truly brain-burning, you can switch between different grid sizes: 3x3, 5x5, and the tougher 7x7 challenge.

How to Play Waffle

To start, you’ll see a grid shaped like a waffle with 21 letters mixed in seemingly random positions. Your mission is to rearrange these letters until all six hidden five-letter words are correct. To swap letters, simply click or tap on one tile and then on another; the two letters will instantly switch places.

After each swap, the colors of the letters update to show how close you are to cracking the puzzle:

Green means the letter is in the perfect spot — don’t touch it again.
Yellow means the letter belongs in that word, but you need to move it within the row or column.
Gray means the letter doesn’t belong in that word at all.

A smart strategy is to anchor your swaps around the green tiles first since those are already correct. Once your solid foundation is set, start moving the yellow letters into place. The center tiles are especially important because they contribute to two words simultaneously — placing them correctly saves you both time and moves.

You have 15 total swaps to complete the Waffle. Strong players often solve it in 12–13 moves. True masters can get it done in the optimal 10.
