Rocket League turns soccer into a multiplayer car match. Drive a rocket-powered vehicle around the arena, strike the ball toward the other team’s goal, and finish with more goals before time runs out.

How to Play Rocket League

A match constantly shifts between attack, defense, and positioning. Drive, turn, jump, and use boost to reach the ball; boost pads around the arena help refill your supply. The ball follows physics, so the angle of each touch can send it toward a save, a pass, or a goal.

Ball Cam keeps the ball in view while you move. In the air, adjust your car’s direction to line up more precise hits. Casual and competitive ranked play are available, with 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 formats; 4v4 Chaos and limited-time modes add other ways to play.

Positioning and Practice

Don’t follow the ball on every play. After attacking, rotate back so the goal is not left open, and save boost for moments when you need speed or an aerial challenge. Running out of boost at the wrong time can leave an easy opening for the opposing team.

Free Play lets you work on ball control without match pressure. Start with clean touches and positioning before concentrating on aerial shots, wall plays, dribbling, and other advanced mechanics.
