About AO3dle

AO3dle asks you to compare two characters and choose the one with more works on Archive of Our Own. Each correct choice continues your streak, while a wrong choice resets it. After every guess, the game reveals the actual work counts, so familiar characters and fandom popularity can be misleading.

Daily Challenge mode uses the same 10 comparisons for every player, making scores easy to compare. Endless mode continues with more character comparisons and increasing difficulty. Global leaderboards add a competitive goal for players who want to push their streak higher.

How to Play AO3dle

Choose the character you think has the higher AO3 work count. The game then shows both counts and updates your streak. Select the character with fewer works and the streak ends immediately.

Daily runs cannot be skipped or retried, so one incorrect choice ends that attempt. Watch for side characters, rarepair favorites, and characters from large fandoms: franchise fame alone does not always predict which name has more AO3 works. Popular ships and crossover patterns can also make the counts harder to judge.

Tips for AO3dle

• Compare archive popularity, not just mainstream fame. A side character or tag from a large fandom may have more works than a better-known character elsewhere.
• Treat each revealed count as useful context for later guesses, especially during a difficult endless run or the 10-comparison Daily Challenge.
• Avoid overconfidence in your favorite characters. The correct choice is always the one with the higher displayed work count.
