1 in 8 Billion is a browser-based life simulation that starts by assigning your character a random birthplace, family background, and other starting circumstances. Real-world statistics from 172 countries and territories shape the simulation, while your decisions influence what happens as the years pass.

There is no fixed winning condition. Each life follows a different path from childhood to old age, and luck and circumstances can affect the outcome alongside your choices.

How to Play 1 in 8 Billion

Start a birth simulation using either current birth rates or global population statistics. As your character grows older, the game presents events and decisions about education, work, relationships, family, and health. Think about each choice before selecting it, because the next part of the life may not be predictable.

You can follow four other lives that begin at the same moment and compare their journeys with your own. Key milestones at ages 5, 15, 30, 50, and 70 show how different starting conditions and decisions can send lives in different directions. When a life ends, review the journey and start again with a new set of circumstances.
