Sandspiel
Sandspiel is a pixel physics sandbox where you paint 20 elements, build environments, and watch water, fire, lava, plants, and more react.
Sandspiel is a pixel physics sandbox where you paint materials onto a canvas and watch them react. There is no score, fixed objective, or required solution, so you decide whether to build a stable scene, create dynamic art, or see how quickly reactive elements can change everything.
How to Play Sandspiel
Choose from 20 elements and draw them directly onto the canvas. Start with solids such as sand and stone, then add flowing materials, plants, fire, lava, oil, or acid. Water flows, sand falls and piles up, plants grow, and heat or corrosive materials can transform the scene.
Use solid materials to shape structures and contain gases or liquids. Brush size lets you control how much material you place, while pause freezes the simulation so you can examine a scene before changing it again. Undo returns you to earlier points in the experiment.
Small changes can produce very different results. Test two materials first, build walls before releasing water or fire, and change one element at a time when you want to understand a reaction. Layering solids, liquids, and loose particles also shows how gravity affects the scene.
Creating and Sharing Scenes
Sandspiel works as both an experiment and a canvas for reactive artwork. You can keep modifying the same scene, rebuild after a destructive reaction, or upload your art for other players to explore. An account is required to post creations publicly.
Game Controls
- Left mouse button - Select elements and tools, then paint or place materials on the canvas by clicking and dragging.
FAQ
Does Sandspiel have levels or a win condition?
No. Sandspiel has no fixed levels, missions, score, or win condition. You are free to build, mix materials, and reshape the simulation.
How many elements can you use in Sandspiel?
Sandspiel includes 20 elements. Their different behaviors let you create reactions involving materials such as sand, water, fire, lava, plants, oil, and acid.
Can you share Sandspiel creations?
Yes. You can upload your art for other players to explore, but posting creations publicly requires a Sandspiel account.
