About QWOP

QWOP is a ragdoll-based skill game about getting an athlete named Qwop across a 100-meter Olympic event. You control each thigh and calf separately with four keyboard keys, so every movement affects the runner’s balance. Gravity and inertia resist the joints as you try to move forward.

The game is single-player: your goal is to reach the finish line while avoiding a fall. Your score gives you a reason to try again and push farther, but there is no need to compete against another runner.

How to Play QWOP

Use Q and W to move the runner’s thighs. O and P control the calves. The paired keys move the legs in opposite directions, so forward movement depends on coordinating both parts of each leg instead of holding one simple run button.

Keep the runner upright as the legs move. If Qwop falls, the attempt ends; press R to restart the current attempt and try the 100-meter run again. Pay attention to how gravity and inertia change the movement of each joint, especially when a leg swings too far or the runner loses balance.

Game Controls

  • Q / W - Control the runner’s thighs
  • O / P - Control the runner’s calves
  • R - Restart the current attempt
